Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of characters who will branch out from the main group to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear unsuited, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the group understands precisely where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death started the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their status as key figures in the influential clan could enable the team access areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the northern region in search of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Questers and Planners parties.
